How to connect more than 3 simulators to a Server on premise?
Our router only allows you to connect 3 simulators. If your classroom has more than three equipment, you will need a network switch to connect simulators, server and one or more computers together in a wired network.
If you need to add more units and computers, you can also make a wireless connection. To do this, we will need to add a Wi-Fi router connected to the network switch. We can see it in this image:
How to connect Soldamatic to a local network?
Soldamatic can use the Wifi network available in the place where it is located. The Simulator/Server and the computer from which we are going to access e-Learning must use the same network.
Let’s take a look at the two ways of connecting to a local network:
- With an Ethernet cable.
If we have only one simulator, we will connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the rear panel of the simulator and the other end to a local network port with Internet access.
If we have more than one unit, we must connect the Server/controller. To do this we will put one end of the Ethernet cable to the rear panel of the simulator (top Ethernet port) and the other end to a local network port with Internet access.
- Via Wifi.
To make this connection, the first thing to do is to access the Soldamatic Configuration Menu and click on «Disable Wifi Access Point». Then we will need to have at hand a keyboard that we will connect to a USB port on the back panel of the computer or server. We will follow these steps to establish the connection:
a. We will access to the menu by pressing the keys CTRL + ALT + F4 and the following screen will appear:
b. Type option 6 «Connects to wifi network».
A list of all available wifi networks will appear. Type in the number of the wifi network you want to connect to and then the password.
NOTE
If you want to check that the connection was successful, press 0 and select the «Unit Info» option. There you can see the connections (Ethernet and Wifi) and the assigned IP, so you can check that you are correctly connected.
Now restart your equipment and you will see that the IP has changed here:
How can I see the IP of the server?
When we are connected to a local network, we will need to see the IP of our server in order to enter it in the Soldamatic e-learning platform access menu.
To do this, we will connect a keyboard and a monitor to the rear panel of the server in order to be able to see the server’s system. Once these elements are connected, press Ctrl + Alt+ F4 and enter the internal menu.
